Friday's Plans

A txt message arrived early in the morning to request that we abandoned the morning meet up as our friend needed a rest.

First display of sad faces.

Another txt message arrived just as we were getting ready to leave the house for our afternoon meet up - this time this friend was running late and won't be home till 5pm, some 2 hours later. So 2nd cancelled plan for the day. Sad faces again.

''How come we can't have a picnic?"

I have recently noticed that my children tend to ask negatively (as in the example above) instead of positively ("Can we have a picnic?"). Is it because I am always too quick to say no to their requests? It was 3.45pm and I was relax enough to stop and consider my response.
"Sure, why don't we have a picnic?"

Boys' idea to use baskets as our "picnic basket".

Why have a snack indoors when you can have it outdoors?
(Now that's something educationalist Charlotte Mason would say.)

After the children's need of love and nourishment were provided for, they played.
(LOL, more Charlotte Mason.)
