I actually know quite a few Christian families that don't celebrate Christmas (and Easter, by the same reasoning). Indeed, I have been wrestling, for a few years now actually, about whether *we* should be celebrating. The issue, in a nutshell, is that these "Christian" celebrations originated from pagan practices. I can't help but think should every Christian decide to stop celebrating Christmas, would that mean Christmas becomes just a celebration of Santa? Which it probably is for a lot of kids who do not have a family ritual of reading about the birth of Jesus at this time of the year; kids who grow up with many Xmas rituals, indeed, such as waking in the morning to find that Santa has put up the Christmas tree overnight and delivered the presents.
Anyway, we do celebrate Christmas. We do exchange presents. We do indulge in the festive foods. We celebrate Jesus' birth though we know that actually Jesus was born around September not December. We do have a Christmas tree which we do put up (indeed, our tree this year has grown from this.)

No more picking up fallen tree and decorations knocked over from the breeze/kids this year.
