Turkish Delight

' "It is dull, Son of Adam, to drink without eating," said the Queen presently. "What would you like best to eat?"

"Turkish Delight, please, your Majesty," said Edmund.

Each piece was sweet and light to the very centre and Edmund had never tasted anything more delicious.

...this was enchanted Turkish Delight and that anyone who had once tasted it would want more and more of it... '
- The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis

S4 has proclaimed this is his favourite book and could we buy this book one day. It took me by surprise as I had wondered if he's too little for The Chronicles of Narnia. But I wasn't surprised for long, for he kept requesting the story to be read again and again, all 17 chapters of it.

Anyway, can you imagine S4's wonder when I (upon seeing the recipe in the good old Edmond's cookbook) asked him if he would like to try some Turkish Delight?

Really? There really is such a thing as Turkish Delight? Is it poisonous?

yes Kate, the ones in the pic were homemade - recipe from the good old Edmonds Cookbook. The only changes i made is instead of flavouring and colour, i used Barkers' Blackcurrant cordial syrup I had in the fridge :) It taste like soft fruit jubes though, not like the turkish delight I've tried at the Turkish Cafe at all. But that suits me fine, cos' I didn't care much for the presumably real thing from the cafe.
