It was in a moment, some weeks ago, not unlike this when N3 must have thought to combine the two things he quite like at that precise moment: plums and cake.
So he declared he'd like a Plum Cake for his birthday.
I'm afraid I didn't respond quite like the encouraging mum you'd expect especially of one who home educates. "There is no such thing as Plum Cake, my dear."
Dear son didn't appear to have heard me. If he did, then he demonstrated clearly that he surely knows what he likes and how he likes it. For he requested the same cake for his birthday several times over the last several weeks. To a little then-not-quite-3 year old-mind, there is no reason why you can't put plums in a cake.
As it turned out, he was right. The recipe is on - you guessed it - the internet. So not an original idea after all. It will, however, always be celebrated as a N3 original idea as far as our family goes.
