Our Annual Camping Holiday

We went away early Feb, but our camping time was cut short due to the unco-operating February weather :( So we've been home for some weeks now, but it's just taken me a lot longer to settle back into the routine of blogging. A friend kindly pointed out to me that it's been nearly a month since my last post and if she has to see Fairy Rosebud one more time....aye aye P, totally get ya!

Off we go...

The boys enjoyed "swimming" in the rock "pool"

You can barely spot our tent between the two caravans at the bottom of the following pic:

So we got the bedroom area sorted it was reasonably tidy...

but this? I think we ought to get one of those pantry things for the tent.

N3 (who has tented every year of his life from when he was a 3 month old baby) surely knew how to kick back!

If only the weather stayed like this for the duration of our planned trip - sigh.

For on the 6th morning, at about 3am-ish, Peps woke to discover rainwater pooling under parts of our tent. So for about two hours, my hero was out in the pelting rain, armed with the boys' sole sandbucket (ie teensy), trotting to and fro the beach to build a sand wall all around our tent. (We learn after the fact that experienced tenters, which we thought we were, always include a bucket in the camping gear.)

It did the trick - for our tent remained dry. But the forecast for the remaining days were for rain so we decided to bail in the afternoon and headed for a night in Paihia instead.
